The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is Australia’s disability insurance scheme that provides tailored funding for reasonable and necessary supports to help eligible people with permanent disabilities live independently and achieve their goals. It empowers you with choice and control over your support.

You’re eligible if you:

• Have a permanent disability that significantly reduces your ability to do everyday activities
• Are an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa
• Are aged between 6 and 65 years old when you first apply
• Have your disability documented with evidence from health professionals

2.Complete the form with details about your disability
3.Gather supporting evidence from health professionals (doctors, specialists, therapists)
4.Submit your form and documents to the NDIS
5.Meet with a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) to prepare for planning
6.Meet with an NDIS planner to develop your support plan
7.Receive your approved NDIS plan with funding details

Total time: Typically 2-3 months from application to receiving your plan.

The NDIS covers reasonable and necessary supports including:

Core Qualifications:

• Certificate III & IV in Disability Support (OR)
• Certificate III in Community Services

Mandatory Certifications As per Client Support Needs:

• NDIS Quality, Safety and You training
• First Aid & CPR certification
• Manual Handling certification
• Assist with Medications certification
• Crisis Prevention Intervention training (where applicable)
• Diabetes Awareness training (where applicable)
• Safe Environment for Children and Young Person certification (where applicable)
• Catheter management training (where applicable)
